United Way of West Central Minnesota's local board of directors is strategically preparing our community’s youngest population for kindergarten. We know that if you reach children at an early age it pays off with lower teen pregnancy rates, higher graduations rates, and more success in school and life. That is why United Way started Empower: Women United in Philanthropy. A women's initiative focusing women's leadership to prepare our children for school.

Empower: Women United in Philanthropy is a women's leadership initiative established to recognize the power of women's leadership in effectively preparing children for kindergarten.

Half of our children are not prepared to learn when they enter kindergarten. Empower:Women United in Philanthropy plans to make a difference and help our community equip families and caregivers so all of the children in our county can be ready to learn and be successful upon entering our school systems.

To be a member of Empower there is an annual membership investment. All investments & dollars raised go into programs and initiatives that have the ability to create lasting positive change in early learning.
