United Way of West Central Minnesota's local board of directors has decided to strategically help prepare our community’s youngest population for kindergarten. We know that if you reach children at an early age it pays off with lower teen pregnancy rates, higher graduations rates, and more success in school and life. That is why United Way started Empower: Women United in Philanthropy. A women's initiative focusing women's leadership to prepare our children for school.
"United Way of West Central Minnesota formed Empower to encourage the women of our community to give their time, talents and financial resources to prepare our community's children for school. United Way has placed a stake in the ground to have 80% of our children prepared for school by 2012 and Empowe ris the leading force in achieving this goaI”. Nathan Streed, United Way Board President. |
